I've been seeing this picture in the selection of smiley faces available on this board . . .and I can't for the life of me figure out what it is. Can anyone tell me what this is or what it represents?

today my mother, a devoted jw of 40+ years, expalined to me that studying the watchtower publications "taught her" how to study!
she went on to describe how the weekly watchtower study taught her how to truly study, by underlining the most important part of the paragraph.
funny, i do not recall that as the primary method of study for the rest of the world - most of the textbooks i have read did not have a numbered set of questions at the end of each paragraph.
I think the reason they have the "spoon-fed" questions and answers is that it keeps people from thinking for themselves.
Think about it. . . if there were no questions and instead, we had spent the hour discussing the article - people would start to use their own words, putting their own spin on things, giving their opinions, etc. God forbid, someone might even start to question what they were reading.
With the Q&A format, the "discussion" is all pre-determined and very orderly. Hear this bit of information that we want you to hear . . . now here is the question. . . now read the sentence that answers the question. This keeps them tied to the material and they don't need to think for themselves.
Granted, you were encouraged to put the material in your own words, but your own words had better reflect the exact message that is in that magazine or book.

yesterday my son and his dad were talking about his world geography class.
it turns out that he is actually in an honors class...i didn't realize that, and i was pretty happy, since he has never been in an honors class.. today, i get a phone call...i see on the caller id it is from the school district.
the first thing i think of is this :"uh-oh...which one of the kids forget their homework or lunch money...etc..etc.".
Eyebrow,
Congrats to you, and to little Eyebrow Jr. too! Great job of parenting.
I love hearing stories of kids that totally turn their attitude about school around! Sometimes, all it takes is doing well in one subject, or one special teacher, or even positive peer pressure. . .Do you know what made the difference for him?

goddamit!
sinnamon has been torturing and chasing around this mouse in the house for about an hour now...i can hear it shriek and squeak every once in a while...i can't catch it and the most irritating thing is she prolly brought it in as a present... this is the culprits mugshot btw...see any humility there?.
Valis, Sinnamon (cute name by the way!) is an absolute darling! He's beautiful.
My cat that we had when I was growing up was an inside/outside cat. . . and he was a tremendously fierce hunter when in his prime. He used to bring in everything! Mice, rats, lizards, small birds, big birds . . .
We had a tiny, swinging kitty-door that he used to go in and out of the basement. One time, he had caught and killed a huge black crow. This thing was enormous - and the amazing part was that he somehow dragged the poor crow's body in through his little swinging door and right up the stairs and into our home as a present for us.
He was super smart too! We used to hang a bell from the door handle on a piece of yarn. Anytime he wanted to go outside, or come in, he would ring the bell by hitting it with his paw and we would open the door. Well, early one morning, he was ringing the bell to come in. My sister got out of bed and opened the door for him. He comes prancing in with a live garder snake in his mouth. He walks into the kitchen and drops it on the floor looking so proud. Luckily, my sister liked snakes, and picked it up and freed it. Needless to say, my cat was pi$$ed off and looking at her with this incredulous look on his face.

i recently signed up on a couple of internet dating sites.
i've been talking with one guy for about a week now and he's asked to meet for coffee.
i'm a little nervous and wanted to hear how many others have tried this.

dumb-dumb the cat has become the neighborhood sweetheart.
it is common to see little neighborhood children and adults alike stoop to pet him in passing.
he often makes the rounds in the evenings, going from door to door in the complex and saying hello through any open doors.
Great story JB, and even greater picture! Both of your kids are so cute! I see some brown on his paws and lower region . . . is that just dirt?
Add me to the black cat club . . . my boy is all black (except for 1 white hair that continually grows back in the same place) and his sister is black and white.
I don't know what I would do without my furry kids! They're the best.

i, damselfly, can not knowingly eat the little squiggly, umbilical cord things in eggs.
i have to very carefully separate the whites from the yolk and remove the squiggly bits with a knife.
i get gaggy just thinking about them.
I've got the bathroom issues that have been previously described. If given the choice of plastic utensils vs. silverware, I'll choose the plastic (as it has never been inside someone else's mouth); but I don't like plastic drinking glasses . . . they get scratched and hold all kinds of germs. I'll do anything possible to avoid getting my hands sticky - if something does end up on my hands, I need to wash them instantly - I can't wait. When eating M&Ms, I enjoy seperating them by color. When listening to the television or people talking, I type the words as I hear them. When I use the oven or stove, I have to physically look at each knob and say the word "off" in my head as I actually see that each knob is indeed turned off - if I don't do this, I'll keep going back to the stove to double check that I didn't forget to turn one off.
As a child, I couldn't stand to wear tights that had a seam that ran along the bottom of my foot - I made my mom buy the kind with no seam. Also, the strap on my mary-janes had to be located pretty much in the middle of the shoe - not closer to the toes than the heal. I couldn't wear three-quarter length sleeves . . . they wern't long, and they wern't short - so they felt wrong. And, if I could feel a stray hang nail or piece of skin between my toes or fingers, I would have to immediately find it and cut it off so that I couldn't feel it any longer when moving my toes and fingers. Wearing my hair pulled back in a pony-tail was challenging - because if one hair felt like it was pulled tighter than the others, it had to be redone.
I could go on . . . but I'm starting to feel really psychotic after listing out all these issues.
